Gold and Silver Maple Leafs Get New Packaging

Gold Maple Leafs and Silver Maple Leafs are receiving packaging makeovers, changes clearly mandated by investor disfavor with packaging that the Royal Canadian Mint has used since the coins were introduced. Gold Maple Leafs debuted in 1979, Silver Maple Leafs in 1988. The changes appear to be good moves, which should increase sales of Silver Maple Leafs and help keep Gold Maple Leafs the preferred pure (.9999 fine) gold bullion coins.

Since inception, 1-oz Gold Maple Leafs have been packaged ten to a tube. Because Maple Leafs are 24-karat, pure gold, they are "soft," relative to alloyed gold coins, such as American Gold Eagles and Krugerrands. Further, because of the design of the coins and the tight-fitting tubes, it is difficult to remove, inspect, and reinsert 1-oz Gold Maple Leafs in their tubes without scratching the coins.

Actually, reinserting Gold Maple Leafs without at least some scratching is nearly impossible. Further, if the persons inspecting the coins do not know how easily the Gold Maple Leafs are damaged, needless damage often occurs while the coins are out their tubes.

Gold Maple Leafs carry the image of Queen Elizabeth II on the front, with a flat, clear field alongside the image. The backs have the outline of a maple leaf, hence the coins' names. The problem arises from the coins' really sharp milled (reeded) edges. When the coins are reinserted in their tubes, the milled edges often scratch the fields.

Then there is the problem with investors who like to "heft" their coins "to get a feel of them." If they put four or five Gold Maple Leafs in the palms of their hands and "clang" them, the damage can be quite severe. Should a Gold Maple Leaf be dropped, rim damage is almost guaranteed.

As Gold Maple Leafs have been sold into the secondary market, damaged coins have become such a problem that Gold Maple Leafs have lost popularity with investors. The problem has become so widespread that many wholesalers bid only "melt" for Gold Maple Leafs, regardless of their condition. By paying only "melt," wholesalers can profitably resell the coins for industrial or jewelry purposes if no buyers are found for the coins.

Gold Maple Leafs, like the Gold Eagles and the Krugerrands, are bullion coins, which trade for the value of their gold content, plus small premiums. Damaged Gold Maple Leafs do not mean a loss of gold; they contain an ounce of gold regardless of the scratching or rim nicks. Still, buyers do not like to receive damaged coins. This means that Gold Maple Leafs sold into the secondary market have to be evaluated for the degree of damage.

Some wholesalers refuse to take the time to individually inspect Gold Maple Leafs and separate them according to their condition. These are the wholesalers who generally will pay only "melt" for 1-oz Gold Maple Leafs, regardless of condition. Fortunately, the free market being what it is, there are still some wholesalers who will buy according to condition.

Yet the handwriting is on the wall: 1-oz Gold Maple Leafs in tubes will continue to lose popularity and probably will join Krugerrands, Mexican 50 Pesos, and Austrian 100 Coronas as basic bullion coins, which carry the smallest premiums in the bullion coin market. Still, the packaging makeover should fillip sales of new Gold Maple Leafs.

With the new packaging, each 1-oz Gold Maple Leaf will be encapsulated in plastic and suspended in the middle of a plastic card, somewhat as 1-oz gold bars are packaged. However, the plastic protecting the Gold Maple Leafs will be heavier and more durable than the plastic used with 1-oz gold bars. The new packaging should keep the coins from being easily damaged.

With the new packaging, the Royal Canadian Mint made another big change: 1-oz Gold Maple Leafs will now come 25 to a box, whereas the old packaging is ten to a tube. This change could further increase sales as 20 coins are common ordering units for gold bullion coins, because the world's most popular gold bullion coins--American Gold Eagles--come 20 to a tube. As a result of the change, investors wanting "complete original packaging" will move up to 25 ounces.

However, orders for small quantities mean the coins will have to be removed from their mint boxes--but still individually encapsulated--and put in other containers. The new packaging also will require more storage space for Gold Maple Leafs than for 1-oz gold coins that come in tubes.

Although 1-oz Gold Maple Leafs will be a little more cumbersome to handle, a large segment of the gold coin bullion market prefers pure gold coins. Gold Maple Leafs have long been the most popular 1-oz pure (.9999 fine or 24-karat) gold bullion coins on the market, and the new packaging should keep Gold Maple Leafs as the preferred 24-karat gold bullion coins. (The market for pure gold bullion coins is estimated to $2.4 billion annually.) The new packaging is expected to debut sometime in August.

New packaging for 1-oz Silver Maple Leafs has already been introduced. However, Silver Maple Leafs in their old packaging are still available. Since Silver Maple Leafs were introduced in 1988, they have been packaged twenty coins to a sheet, 200 coins in a box. Each coin was individually enclosed in plastic. The new packaging will be similar to the U.S. Mint's Silver Eagles packaging.

Silver Maple Leafs will now come 20 to a tube, 25 tubes to a container, and 500 coins to a "mint box." The new box will be made of durable heavy plastic, whereas the boxes of 200 are cardboard. The new packaging should make Silver Maple Leafs more competitive with American Silver Eagles, presently the most popular 1-oz modern silver bullion coins being sold.

Hearing Impaired? Hearing Aids? Advice for “Deafies” and those who put up with us

I have always had a hearing impairment. I was born with a 70% hearing loss in both ears. While I had a mother who was sensitive to my disability, I never believed there was anything wrong wth me. As a child, I refused to wear hearing aids.

When, at 19 years-of-age, I bought one hearing aid, it was as if someone turned the sound up. I felt even more invincible. By the time I was 30, I knew I needed aids in both ears. It was not for 25 more years that I would learn that hearing aids alone were not enough.

Granted, most persons who don’t hear very well do need hearing aids. If they think they will look stupid wearing aids, these people have no idea how stupid they appear to others without them. When one gives crazy answers to sane questions ~ and misunderstands what others say ~ they don’t appear to be very bright. Amplification normally helps a great deal, even if perfect hearing is not attainable for many of us.

Consider this: Use of hearing aids might prevent you from being diagnosed as senile when you get older or loose the understanding companion who has always made allowances for you.

Yet, even with good hearing aids, I have only now come come to understand that it is my responsibility to not do those things which irritate normal hearing people ~ when I can control those very things.

If I am in another room, I have no business asking questions ~ or initiating conversations ~ which I will likely not hear right. To do so can only cause a person with normal hearing to take on unearned aggravation.

If I wish to engage in a conversation, I should make certain that the other person is close enough for me to have the best chance of hearing. And when others speak to me, ask that they do so in a hearing environment where I will understand ~ “Because I don’t want to ask you repeat yourself.” I expect the same courtesy of others that they should reasonably expect of me.

When I enter a room and see some people cocking their heads, looking at the ceiling confused, I should be sensitive enough to realize that my hearing aids are probably on too loud without someone asking, “What’s that noise?” Yes, often in an effort to hear better, I have cranked my hearing aids up to a point of “Feedback” which ~ although I can not hear it ~ many people do. Frustrated, associates have screamed, “You’re beeping!” Perhaps, my right to hear should be restricted to the point where other people’s sanity endures?

I have great difficulty communicating on the telephone. It was not uncommon for me to already be on the phone and to request assistance of the closest person to me to be my ears ~ for just a moment. I expected that person to drop everything and help me. How unfair? I have sense learned to say, “In a few minutes, I need to make a call. When you are free, would you mind being my ears if I need some?” I no longer expect everyone to allow me to interrupt them just because ~ through my lack of planning ~ I need help “Now!”

While I am on the subject, we who require special effort on other’s part to engage in conversation with us, need to learn not to begin talking to them if they are engaged in an activity which will necessitate their relocation to accommodate us, allow us to see their lips, etc.

Hopefully, I’ve learned I don’t have to talk all of the time. All of my life, I had attempted to masquerade as a normal person. The fact is, if you can’t hear ~ you are not normal! While really not wanting my captive audience to talk ~ because I knew that I would not be able to hear what they said ~ it was much easier to talk than to listen.

Now, I tell the truth. “I can’t hear what you are saying. It is not your fault, but my poor hearing. Please speak more loudly to me. And if I give you an inappropriate response, I will not be offended if you tell me that you don’t think that I understood what you said. In fact, I’d really appreciate it.”

My best advice to persons who can’t hear: Don’t try to “Fake it.” Maybe, you will get away with making like you understand the conversations? Yet, more than likely ~ and more often than you will ever know ~ others will think that you really didn’t care what they had to say.

Being hearing impaired is hard ~ not just on we “Deafies” ~ but those who put up with us too.

Are Digital Hearing Aids Better Than Analogue Hearing Aids?

How do they differ?

Analogue hearing aids use a amplifier to raise all sounds by a certain amount, which can be adjusted by a simple volume control. The problem with this is that hearing loss is rarely equal over the range of pitches and by raising the volume to hear speech, we will be raising the level of background noise as well. Difficult! In fact many of us have been put off wearing a hearing device for just that reason.

The latest digital hearing instruments from manufacturers like Phonak, Oticon and Resound can be set not to enhance background noise, and to just concentrate on hearing speech, which is what hearing aids are designed to do. This means that digital hearing aids are much better for more difficult types of hearing loss, and for hearing in background noise.

The newest hearing instruments are also great at suppressing those unwanted sounds, incorporating features such as wind suppression and feedback cancellation. These two features can alone substantially improve ones listening experience.

Really for anyone wearing an analogue hearing aid they should try and listen to the benefits of these latest devices because the benefits really are incredible and must be experienced. Its sometimes considered a cliche to hear customers who are wearing the latest devices, comment that "it really has changed my life", or "i can hear birdsong again". But its really anything but a cliche and it is only when we are able to experience these amazing new advances in hearing health that we can trully see at the benefits they deliver.

If you've got an analogue hearing device, or even if you just think you've got a hearing loss, go and get a free hearing test from a local hearing audiologist and ask for a demonstration of digital hearing aids. It really is as simple as that, and anyone who is concerned about their hearing or currently wearing the older analogue style should go and have a look for themselves.

Chiropractor College

A chiropractor college offers many different challenges for people wishing to get into that field. Many colleges have very high academic standards and expand their offerings for education. A good chiropractor college will put emphasis on strong educational preparation and clinical training in the chiropractor field. The clinical training allows the graduate to realize how successful they can be in a solo practice.

Students are offered an outstanding education at a chiropractor college, and there is high level of excellence. A good chiropractor college will mentor the student with practicing doctors, familiar with every aspect of chiropractic medicine. They will learn chiropractic care, and be enthusiastic in their practice. The curriculum continually grows and teaches the science, art and philosophy that a chiropractor needs to know. Another benefit to a good chiropractor college is that it offers two masters degree programs that help to prepare the student for professional practice as licensed acupuncturists as well. The student should leave feeling competent and confident as a practitioner with an understanding of theoretical concepts. The students will learn by doing, and will integrate theory with practice while working closely with educated and experienced practitioners.

In the end, a good chiropractor college will provide students with all the training and skills that are needed to help alleviate pain maintain wellness and establish a successful and fulfilling career. There should be high standards at a chiropractor college to help bring out the full potential of the student. The instructors will be highly involved and should offer hands-on training. There should be reputable doctors of chiropractic medicine in the program, and there should be new academic choices in acupuncture as it is often used hand in hand with chiropractic medicine. Research and internship opportunities should be available for the students. These areas should help to bring out the students highest potential, as this is one of the goals of a good chiropractor college. When the student graduates, they should be able to run a profitable practice.

Cheap Hearing Aids Are Here to Help Everyone

I often tend to take this space to speak about the great things hearing aids can do and how they really benefit those who need them. With good reason - the advancements in hearing aid technology are numerous and exciting, constantly helping us to improve our hearing and to improve our lives and the lives of those we love and care for. We've also talked a good bit about how those advancements have released a lot of the stigma attached with wearing hearing aids - they're less visible, less bulky and more effective than ever. Not only that, but now it is slowly getting cheaper so that way more people can afford to buy them without having to pay so much money out of their pockets; everyone should be able to afford the technology if they need the help.

We've talked about all the good reasons for wearing hearing aids and they are all excellent reasons for that matter: better social interaction, better safety, just a better quality of life in general. Without the assistance however, life can be very difficult and it can feel very lonely; social interaction will go down and it may very well cause depression, and no one ever wants to suffer from such a horrible thing as depression. Fortunately now, we have the technology to help us but at what cost is all of this progress? The cost tends to be a fairly steep one, especially for those of more modest means. In large part due to the prevalence of hearing loss, hearing aids are not covered by insurance, leaving many forced to fork out the money for them out of their pockets. Luckily, there's a less-expensive solution for those who understand the importance of a good hearing aid while maintaining a good price.

Songbird disposable hearing aids are available for those who don't need hearing aids all the time - or the associate cost of purchasing them. They're available at a variety of drugstores and have a battery life of 400 hours. That could be as much as 6 months of use, depending on usage patterns. With hearing aid costs soaring into the thousands of dollars range, this cheap hearing aid - available in some places for less than $100 - is a welcome addition for those in need of good hearing and a great deal. Not only that, but when it is out of power, there is no need to go and get the battery changed, all you have to do is buy another one, turn it on and enjoy the wonderful world of hearing. It's cheap affordable and it will help improve your life and keep you from missing out on life.

As always, you should ask an audiologist before deciding on a hearing aid. Such great technology should be available to everyone who needs a cheap hearing aid so that way they can still live a good life with the ability to hear well everything around them. It truly would be a tragedy to miss out on life because of the ability to hear well was lost for any reason. Sometimes we all need assistance in these times. The economy is not doing well and it is terrible that those with hearing loss suffer than most other people who need help improving their senses. At least one good thing that can be said is that there are now more and more health insurance companies that will cover your trip to see the ENT and an audiologist. Hopefully, as time continues to progress along with technology, people will be able to afford better hearing assistance technology which will help them lead better lives; perhaps someday within the next ten to twenty years we will hopefully find ways to cure hearing loss with certain medical procedures or some sort of medicine that will be more widely available to anyone who wishes to have better hearing.

Barbie Games

When we let our little girls play with dolls, we are allowing them to exercise their imagination and creativity. It's also how they mimic the things that they see going on around them. One of the innovations that lets girls even become more creative are Barbie games. They come in a variety of forms for example, video games, online computer games, story book games and even vinyl sticky Barbie games. Barbie is of course the main character.

Online, you can dress the Barbie doll. In one version, she is in a store trying to make a decision on what to get. There are long and short dresses, and you can also change her hair color and hairstyle.

The fashion conscious aren't left out. There are tons of accessories like shoes, handbags, jewelry, and hosiery and so on. In another game, you find Barbie surrounded by loads of glamorous dresses and you get to pick what you like and dress her in it. You can also change her lip color and make up. It's actually a lot of fun.

There are also Barbie games where you go on adventures with Barbie. These are based on some of the Barbie movies and it doesn't matter if you haven't seen the movie. It's still fun and easy to play. Your little girl is promised a lot of fun with these games, and as a parent one should know that the content is suitable as they are aimed for young girls. The games are also very easy to navigate though.

Know how to Stay Positive in the Face of Adversity

I am writing to you in support of Gregory Reyes, My name is Diane and I am an executive with GE, working out of New York, NY. I have been with GE for more than 18 years and am currently a Managing Director in GE Corporate Financial Services, Inc. I work closely with a group of private equity clients, providing primarily debt and equity financing for their acquisition and investing activities. I am married to R. Mark Burton and we live in Fairfield Connecticut with our three children. We are active in our community, supporting the public school system through the PTA and other volunteer programs, coaching youth sports and contributing our time and charitable donations to several local organizations.

I came to know Greg more than 18 Years ago when he was dating his now wife, Penny, who is my closest friend. Penny and 1 have known each other since third grade and have remained very close through the years, despite living on opposite coasts these last 12+ years. Our friendship has always been very important to us and we've managed to see each other at least once a year. We've shared our families with each other and have also spent many hours alone talking about our lives and our relationships.

Given my friendship with Penny, I have had many opportunities to spend time with Greg over the years and know him to be a very honest and good man. He is generous and gracious and a devoted and loving husband to Penny and father to Greg Jr. and Rebecca. I know that nothing has been more important to Greg than spending time with Penny and the kids, at their home in Saratoga California or at a vacation property.

He's also been a loving and generous son-in-law to Penny's parents, Dick and Joan Bradley. Several years ago Greg arranged and paid for Penny's parents to move from Florida to a community close to his and Penny's home in Saratoga, CA. He knew, not only how much Penny missed them, but also how important it was for his kids to have their grandparents participate in a meaningful way in their lives. I know that having her parents nearby has been very special for Penny and also a source of great comfort and support for the family with all that has gone on in recent years.

The last couple of years have been nightmarish for Greg, Penny and their kids. They are very private people, living a normal life, driving their kids to school, staying in on Saturday night to watch movies and spending time with family and friends. It’s been impossible for them to go about their lives with any sort of normalcy, as the indictment and court proceedings have been so public. Penny and the kids, in particular, have been deeply affected. The constant fear of what might happen to Greg has made life almost unbearable.

I have so admired how Penny and Greg have conducted themselves throughout this ordeal. They have managed to stay positive in the face of adversity, as they've had complete conviction in Greg's innocence. They've also had confidence in their legal representation but, more than anything, they’ve had faith in our country’s justice system. As difficult as it's been thus far, it will be completely devastating for Penny and the kids if Greg is separated from them through incarceration. The children are at very delicate aged and need the loving support of both parents at home.

On behalf of Greg and his family, I ask that as you consider your sentencing options, you show compassion toward Greg.

The Right Device Can Help You Hear Again

The human body is hands down the most incredible creation on this earth and that is saying a lot. The thing is that even as perfect as our bodies are there are inherent flaws. Everyday we discover one more thing that can happen inside ourselves but there are things that go wrong that we have known about for many years. Our five senses that we are born with begin to fade as we get older and there is very little that we can do about it. We can do what we can to prevent our hearing form being lost but it is still likely that it will deteriorate as we get older. Luckily we can start to lessen the effects of it by using technology.

As with every other area in life if we find something that needs to be fixed with our body or with the earth science and technology is there for us. There are some wonderful inventions that can basically minimize the effects of our hearing loss to the point that we will feel like super heroes with super magnified hearing. Not all aids are for everyone so we recommend that you seek medical advice to determine how much of your loss can be corrected with technology.

We have all seen people go deaf and never get to hear the sound of a child laughing or their spouse saying they love them. Thanks to medical science we may never have to meet anyone like that again in our lives.

The Ups and Downs of Downloadable DS Games

What is a DS?
The DS, or Nintendo DS, is an advanced technology apparatus that plays video games on a duel screen monitor. It is a handheld game system that allows gaming enthusiasts to bring high quality games with them when they are on the road or otherwise unable to play a counsel system. However, with the DS, has become a standalone system that has most gamers itching to try it. It was developed and produced by the Nintendo organization and was released in 2004 in multiple countries including Canada, Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom. The clamshell design is similar to the Game Boy Advance, which was the predecessor to the Nintendo DS, but the Nintendo DS has duel screens with the lower one being designed as a touch screen.

Download DS Games
Though there are some problems with downloadable DS games, they hardly outweigh the possible positives when it comes to these games. Downloadable DS games are games that can be downloaded off the wireless internet that is available for the Nintendo DS. These games are similar to WiiWare games in that they are not usually full length games, but they are still fantastically composed and capable of providing hours of gaming fun. There are even some free downloadable DS games available, but these are rarer than the purchased ones.
A few cons to downloadable DS games include the fact that the download speed is relatively poor. When downloading a game for the DS, it can take many minutes, even hours in some extreme cases. This can be more than a little frustrating for those that want to just play the game.
Another problem is that there is a possibility for an adware infiltration which can potentially do damage to the DS. However, this is only caused by poor usage of the wireless internet system.
These few cons are not enough to make the whole of the system poor. The Nintendo DS has many games online that may be downloaded on the SD card of the system. This can allow numerous downloadable games to be purchased or downloaded on a single system. The downloadable games for the DS are also very fun and very addicting. They can provide just as much if not more fun that any retail game for the DS or a consol alike. Once the games are downloaded there are usually no problems with operation.

How To Get The Most From Online Psychic Readings

Getting online psychic readings can open a person up to a world of frauds and those looking to only get money. It can be hard for a person to determine who is real and who is not. It helps to be armed with some important information before a person ever starts looking for a psychic reader.

There are generally two different types of psychic readers online. There are those who work for a company and those who have a private practice. Whether a person works for a company or for themselves is not an indication of if they are real or not. Sometimes a whole company can be a fake and sometimes individuals can be a fake. It goes either way. However, it helps to know if they are with a company or not. Sometimes companies offer a better chance of getting a refund then an individual. Sometimes individuals are more flexible. There are pros and cons to each.

When looking at companies it is important to see what type of testing procedures they have in their hiring process. If the company does not test their readers before hiring them then it is best to stir clear of them. Additionally, it helps to see what their refund policy is and if they keep records of the readings. Many online psychic readings are done in chat rooms or through email. If the reading is on record that can help when trying to get a refund.

With individuals it is smart to ask for references. They should be able to provide at least two happy clients for you to contact. Also check about what will happen if you are not satisfied.

As mentioned, most online psychic readings are done through chat rooms or email. In a chat room situation the client gets to talk with the reader as the reading is happening. It is like being face to face with the reader in some aspects. Chat room readings are nice because of the interaction. The client can ask questions and get clarification, if needed. Email readings can also be nice. Usually the reader will allow for follow up question, if needed, so the client can get clarification. Email readings are great for complex situations because the reader has time to work on the reading and isn’t pressured into giving immediate answers.

There are endless options in online psychic readings. There are many companies who have psychic readers online 24 hours a day. If a person wants an online psychic reading they will have no trouble finding a place to get one. However, as mentioned it is also easy to get scammed. Some of the signs of a scam include, readers who give vague answers to questions, no refund policy, no management contact information, a business that is fairly new with no references and pricing that is higher than the average.

Online psychic readings are usually much cheaper than phone readings. Online readings are usually booked according to a set amount of time. For email readings the readings are priced according to the question type or the length of the reading. In general, a person can expect to pay between $60 and $100 for a half hour online chat room readings and from $20 and up for an email reading.

Online psychic readings give a person the freedom to get a psychic reading whenever they want. They can also research the reader better than they can with a phone reading. Many times a person will find that online psychic readings offer a much better quality, too, than phone readings. For anyone looking to get a psychic reading, online readings are a great choice.

What do you grow in a greenhouse?

Once you’ve got your greenhouse ready, it can be difficult to know exactly what to grow. All sorts of things will grow in a greenhouse, and most will grow at least a little better than they would outside it, but there isn’t much point in doing all that work just to end up with a crop of slightly bigger potatoes.

The two things that most people grow in greenhouses are tomatoes and cucumbers, as they grow quite badly outside but very well inside. They are also easy to grow, as the seeds available are of such high quality: often you will be able to grow quite good tomatoes and cucumbers even if you’re too useless at gardening to even follow the instructions on the seed packet properly.

After a while, though, this gets dull. So what should you do next? The answer is that you should get a little more adventurous with what you grow in your greenhouse. Strawberries are a good start, as they are very nice, expensive in shops, but not too difficult to grow yourself. Other bush fruits such as raspberries and blackcurrants also work well in a greenhouse.

Once you’re a greenhouse pro, though, the hardest thing to try is a melon. There’s a reason why farmers have competitions to see who can grow the biggest melon: melon-growing is more of an art than a science, and it’s very difficult to master. Generally, the key is to give your melons as much support as you can: as soon as the plant starts growing, support it with a length of string tied to the roof of your greenhouse, and once melons start to appear, support them with string nets. One other thing to be aware of is that it is easy to accidentally drown melons if you water them normally, so you should set up an alternative system, such as a pipe leading directly to the plant’s roots.

What You Need to Know Before Buying a Hearing Aid

You finally get up the nerve to go to the hearing aid office and get your ears tested. They break the news that you need a hearing aid. Your mind is swimming with visions of having to wear that huge thing on your ear. How could this have happened? Why me?! And then they start telling you about all of the different types you can get. All that terminology just goes right over your head. Don't they know your in shock! How on earth can you make a decision when you don't even know what they're talking about!

There are hundreds of different hearing aids. It can be a very complicated world of technological terms. Sometimes, those of us that work with hearing aids all the time can forget just how foreign they can sound to you. To make matters worse, the manufacturers like to call things different names, so they sound like something different. No wonder there's so much confusion!

I am going to try to unravel some of the mystery for you. When you get down to it, there are really only a few terms you need to understand.

There are seven primary styles of hearing aids: ITE, Half Shell, ITC, Mini Canal, CIC, BTE, and Open Ear.

In the Ear (ITE) ITE's are the largest custom style of hearing aid. They fill the bowl of your ear and can have the most power and features available.

Half Shell (HS) The Half Shell fills about half the bowl of your ear. They are able to have a good deal of power and features, use a smaller battery, but are more cosmetically appealing.

In the Canal (ITC) The next smallest size is the custom ITC. Harder to see than the larger hearing aids, but also not able to have as much power or as many features.

Mini Canal (MC) Smaller than the ITC hearing aid, the custom mini canal uses a smaller battery and has even less power available. Features can also be more limited.

Completely in the Canal (CIC) The CIC is the smallest custom in the ear hearing aid and very popular due to its cosmetic appeal and ease of use. There are usually no manual controls on a CIC, telephone usage is often better because they are less likely to whistle. Lack of power is the main reason people cannot use this style, though a small ear canal may keep you from being able to wear one also.

Behind the Ear (BTE) This hearing instrument sits behind your ear and is connected to your ear by a tube with an earmold. BTE hearing aids have the most power and features available.

Open Ear (OE) and Receiver in Canal (RIC) This hearing aid is a fairly new style of BTE made available in recent years and are much smaller then a traditional BTE. They are meant primarily for high frequency hearing loss. It is connected to your ear by a very thin tube or wire with a small earbud on the tip. They are called Open Ear because they leave the ear canal less blocked than other styles of hearing aid.

Important Features:

Directional Microphones - These are available on most BTE, OE, ITE, Half Shell, and ITC styles of hearing aids. They are the best feature you can have on your hearing aid for hearing in noisy places, such as restaurants. (They reduce sounds from behind, so that it does not interfere with the sound in front of you) Directional microphones can be automatic; they automatically turn on when the sound level in the room gets too loud. Some are also be adaptive, which means they can follow moving sounds, or reduce several different sounds at the same time.

Noise Reduction - Noise reduction doesn't really reduce noise, it reduces amplification in the frequencies where there is noise and no speech. If there is a fan running in the background, the hearing aid will not amplify it as much as it will speech. When the hearing aid finds both speech and noise at a frequency, you still get both. More advanced the hearing instruments manage noise better by breaking the frequencies up into smaller pieces.

Memories - There are two types of memories available on a hearing aid, manual and automatic. Many hearing aids have a push button that allows you to have different settings (memories) for different situations such as quiet places, noisy places, and music or telephone. The hearing aid beeps when you push the button to let you know which memory you are using. Advanced hearing aids can have memories that are automatic. Instead of pushing a button, the hearing aid does it for you! Some hearing aids can even have a combination of both.

Feedback Cancellation - Feedback (or that annoying whistling sound) is the number one complaint people have about hearing aids. Most hearing aid wearers experience feedback when they put their hand over their ear, or use the phone. Feedback Cancellation will take down the amount of feedback (whistling) that you hear.

Bands / Channels - Bands are what we use to adjust the volume in a hearing aid. More bands means more control when we program the hearing instrument to your hearing loss.

Channels are used to adjust the part of the hearing aid that keeps the sound from getting too loud. Channels can also refer to the hearing aid noise reduction system. For noise reduction, more channels is definitely better because the hearing aid can break the sound up into smaller pieces and isolate noise from speech.

These are the main things you need to understand about your hearing aid. If you really want the best one for you, I recommend you focus on telling your professional what benefits you want from your hearing instrument. Let them know what frustrates you to give them a better idea of how they can help you. Their goal is to help you hear better, and when that happens, everyone wins.

Certified Medical Assistants - Why it Pays to Get Certified

Medical assistants, by law, are not required to be licensed or certified. However, a whopping 90% of these hardworking professionals choose to obtain certification. And, with good reason. Most employers like to hire those with these credentials. Some states even require that they be certified to perform certain duties like drawing blood or taking x-rays.

Outside of employment opportunities, getting certified gives you a professional edge. It also signals to employers that you take you profession seriously - seriously enough to take it to the next lever. It means better job security and greater career advancement opportunities.

The final advantage of being a certified medical assistant is that it is an accreditation that is recognized by potential employers all over the country. You can't beat that for job security.

Certified Medical Assistants: Education Required

To become a certified medical assistant, you must get your degree from an accredited medical assistant program. Installing stairlifts

Installing a stairlift into the home is a complex and skilled task and should only be tackled by a trained professional who will ensure a correct fit and user safety.

A stairlift basically consists of two elements;

1) The Track -Straight or Curved rail leading up the stairs.
2) The Powered Chair - Comprising of a seat, footrest, armrests and control unit mounted on the track.

Prior to instillation the majority of stair lift companies will complete a survey to evaluate the environment that the stairlift will be fitted prior to confirming the final quotation.

As part of this survey the engineer will assess the condition of the stairs as the track or rail will be secured to it and so will be subject to the weight of stairlift and the user.

If the stairs are sound the first stage of an installation is to lay the track on the side of the stairs which offers the best access and user experience (normally discussed with customer during the site survey). A track is normally fixed to the stairs by using brackets screwed directly into the stair tread (the top of the stair). The track can be supported entirely by brackets or rest on the stairs themselves depending on the make and model. A track is normally supplied by the manufacture in smaller sections which are connected by the engineer to complete the installation.

When the track has been successfully installed the motor is generally installed next and the wiring work is completed.

Finally the seat is simply attached to the track and the motor and the stairlift will be ready for testing by the engineer.

A curved stairlift causes a more intensive installation as the track is required to follow the curves of the wall. Generally curved stairlifts are considerably more expensive to purchase due to increased installation time and more complex engineering required within the product.

A standard straight stairlift can normally be fitted in 1-2 hours depending on specification.

4 Benefits of Long Term Trading vs Short Term Trading

Both short term trading and long term trading can be effective trading strategies, however, long term trading has several significant advantages. These include the effect of compounding, the opportunity to earn from dividends, reduction of the impact of price fluctuations, the ability to make corrections in a more timely manner, less time spent monitoring stocks.

1. Compounding

Time can be investor’s best friend because it gives compounding time to work its magic. Compounding is the mathematical process where interest on your money in turn earns interest and is added to your principal.

2. Dividends

Holding a stock to take advantage of payouts from dividends is another way to increase the value of an investment. Some companies offer the ability to reinvest dividends with additional share purchases thereby increasing the overall value of your investment. Additionally, dividends are more a reflection of a company's overall business strategy and success than volatile price fluctuations based on market emotions.

3. Reduction Of The Impact Of Price Fluctuations

In the long term investment the persons is less affected by short term volatility. The market tends to address all factors that keep changing in the short term. So a person involved in long term investment or trading will not be affected as much by short term instability due to factors such as liquidity, fancy of a particular sector or stock which may make the price of a stock over or undervalued. In the long term, good stocks which may have been affected due to some other factors (in the short term) will give better than average returns.

Long-term investors, particularly those who invest in a diversified portfolio, can ride out down markets without dramatically affecting his or her ability to reach their goals.

4. Making Corrections

It is highly likely that you could achieve a constant return over a long period. The reality is that there will be times when your investments earn less and other times when you make a lot of money in short term. There may also be times when you lose money in short term but as you are in quality stocks and have long perspective of investment you will earn good returns over a period of time.

There are always times when some stocks do not perform and it is the wise choice to pull out of an investment. With a long term perspective based on quality stocks, it is easier to make decisions to change in a more timely manner without the urgency that accompanies short term and day trading strategies chasing volatile changes.

Investors that begin early and stay in the market have a much better chance of riding out the bad times and capitalizing on the periods when the market is rising by taking a longer term view using long term trading strategies.

Common Hearing Aid Myths

MYTH: Hearing aids will cure hearing loss or restore a hearing impaired individual’s hearing to normal.

TRUTH: No hearing aid will ever allow a hearing impaired individual to have normal hearing. A hearing aid just cannot provide what the ear and its intricate working of nerves can. What it can do is amplify sounds so that those wearing them can benefit from and enjoy a wide variety of listening situations. Hearing better helps one to respond appropriately thus improving communication skills.

MYTH: Hearing aids will resolve all of a hearing impaired individual’s communication difficulties.

TRUTH: This is impossible, although hearing aids go a long way in helping a hearing impaired individual with their communication skills. Hearing aid wearers often still have problems following conversations when background noise is present or in noisy public settings, thus inhibiting their ability to communicate effectively in those situations.

MYTH: Hearing aids will destroy residual hearing.

TRUTH: Since hearing aids are prescribed according to an individual wearer’s specific hearing loss, it would be a rare occurrence for a hearing aid to cause further damage to a person’s hearing. There are several things a hearing impaired individual can do to further reduce the possibility of damage caused by hearing aids. They must be well maintained, worn correctly and well fitted.

MYTH: Smaller hearing aids have better technology.

TRUTH: Both larger hearing aids and smaller ones are equipped with cutting edge technology. The two most common types of hearing aids are behind the ear (BTE) and completely in the canal (CIC) hearing aids. Whether or not an individual will be able to wear a hearing aid that is nearly invisible to a casual observer, depends on the type of hearing impairment they have. The hearing aid that is most appropriate for one person’s degree of impairment or listening needs, may not necessarily be best suited to another person.

MYTH: Hearing aids are not absolutely necessary for relatively minor hearing losses.

TRUTH: It is not advisable to put off obtaining hearing aids until hearing loss becomes a bigger problem. Over time the risk of permanent sound distortion increases. In this case, even when hearing aids amplify the volume of the spoken word it can still sound garbled.

MYTH: Hearing aids will not be effective for some types of hearing losses.

TRUTH: Generations ago people with certain types of hearing losses, such as high frequency, were told there was little or no help out there for them. With advances in hearing aid technology this is no longer true. Hearing aids are now effective for at least 95 % of hearing impaired individuals.

MYTH: Babies can’t be fitted with hearing aids.

TRUTH: Actually infants as young as a month old can be fitted with hearing aids. With the increase in hearing tests for at risk newborns, hearing impairments are being detected earlier then ever and the world of hearing aid research and technology is doing its best to keep pace.

MYTH: It doesn’t matter where hearing aids are purchased.

TRUTH: While buying hearing aids through mail order or off the internet may be less expensive, it is not necessarily advisable. By purchasing through these venues, a hearing aid consumer may be giving up the quality of care they will get by working with an audiologist. This includes things such as a qualified hearing evaluation, professional recommendations as to the most appropriate type of hearing aid, expert instruction regarding proper hearing aid usage, follow up care, etc.

Married to an Alcoholic: 7 Steps to Helping Them Get Sober

Are you married to an alcoholic? Is your husband/wife a different person when they drink? Are you tired of the Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde Behavior? Are you at your wits end and just can't take it anymore? What can you do?

1. Stop trying to get your husband/wife to stop drinking.

No matter how much you nag and complain at them to stop drinking, it is not going to do a bit of good. What will is taking care of you. I know, it sounds backwards, but when you're emotionally stressed out, it will be more difficult to help your loved one. You have no verbal power over the alcoholic. What you do have control over is your actions. What you do and say to the alcoholic will have a direct effect on whether or not they will continue drinking or not.

2. Detach with love.

Be loving and supportive of the person you married, not the alcoholic. Don't take any of the emotional garbage they dish out while drinking. Have you noticed how when your spouse drinks they start to berate you and want to start arguments? Don't argue or fight back. Let them know you will not argue with them while they are drinking, period.

Above all, never allow the alcoholic to trespass against your spirit when they are playing one of their mind games. Walk away and close the door behind you. Go visit a friend, take a walk around the block, or put some ear plugs in your ears. Your mental health is what helps the alcoholic the most. This is what detaching with love is all about. Detaching yourself from the disease is what helps the alcoholic see that he needs help.

3. Set boundaries

Did you know that the person who takes the verbal abuse of an alcoholic is sometimes just as mentally and emotionally sick as the alcoholic? This is why it is absolutely necessary, especially for spouses of alcoholics, to set boundaries for themselves while the alcoholic is drinking.

Don't allow their roller coaster emotions to affect you. At least do not let them see that they are affecting you. The alcoholic wants to get a reaction out of you, don't give them that satisfaction. When they are drinking, treat them like a stranger. Remember, you love the person you married, but you do not love the disease. Don't be nice to the disease but love the person. Do you understand?

4. Do not enable the alcoholic

Don't help the alcoholic by enabling their addictive behavior. Don't help them to bed. Don't let them drive while drinking. Do not let them argue, fuss or fight with you while they are drinking. Do not talk to them, leave the house or room and shut and lock the door behind you. Do not buy them alcohol, even if they beg you to. Don't let them drive! Don't treat them any differently because they have a drinking problem. Don't give them any special attention while they are drinking.

5. Be supportive when they are sober

When the alcoholic in your life is sober, give them extra special attention. Tell them how much you love them, but not the disease. Talk to them about your new boundaries when they are sober. Write them on the refrigerator so they can't say they forgot. Basically let them know all the bad and awful things they do to you and the rest of the family while they are drinking. They need to know.

6. Go to Alan-on

This is very important when you are living with an alcoholic. This is how you heal yourself from the abuses of the alcoholic. This is where you will meet friends who are going through the same things as you. You are not alone.

7. Pray everyday

Never relent in your silent appeals to God for your spouse's sobriety. I cannot say enough how important it is to keep a well balanced mind, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually when living with an alcoholic. They can literally tear you apart. I encourage you to seek God for your comfort and encouragement during this difficult time in your life. God answers our incessant appeals for healing. He feels our suffering and pain. Please do not give up hope.

What You Need to Know About Planting Your First Bonsai Tree

Bonsai trees are miniature trees that originated in China. However, Japan adopted the tree when Buddhist monks took it as their own. When they arrived in Japan, the trees increased in popularity. The word "bonsai" refers to the maintenance of trees so that they will look like a miniature tree. However, this is not something that can be done overnight. It can take up to several years before the bonsai tree actually comes to fruition.

In order to begin your planting adventure, you would need to have supplies and tools to help your bonsai tree to grow. Some of the things you would need include pots, water, fertilizer, wiring and other items that are conducive to planting your first Bonsai tree. You will also need to get a tree that you can manage.

Here are a few trees that you can work with if planting your first bonsai tree is appealing to you:

• Japanese Pagoda - This tree is great for beginners just starting to learn how to plant a bonsai tree. This is a small tree, so that makes it all the better for something to start out with without being overwhelmed. In the summer, this tree blooms with white, blue and violet flowers. What you can do with this tree is to allow it to stay in the sun and only provide it with a little shade.

When the growing season comes, you must you must fertilize it right before and also after the season has ended. With the root ball system, the bonsai tree is not supposed to be dry. You should also have fertilizer on the tree before and after the growing season. Be sure to keep this tree away from the blazing sun and harsh winter weather. You would have to make sure that this tree stays pruned. It will have to be pruned quite a bit.

• Chinese Quince - This is a bonsai tree that is planted outside. It has pink flowers that have yellow fruit that are large in size. This tree has a great longevity period. As the Chinese Quince ages, it adds more beauty.

This bonsai tree should be maintained kept in the shade. It should also be kept away from the harsh winter weather. It can be placed in part of a shaded area. Use fertilizer all year. This tree, like the Japanese Pagoda, will also have to be pruned quite a bit in order to keep it healthy.

Once you get a hang of the basic maintenance of bonsai trees, you will be able to advance to other tasks of planting and maintaining. It is important that you water, fertilize and prune each tree. This will ensure that your tree is being planted and will thrive to look like one of the best bonsai trees on your property.

Is a Credit Card right for you?

So, you just received an application for a credit card in the mail or you happened to come across one on the internet, how do you know if you can handle a credit card or the many responsibilities that come with having a credit card?

There are some people that believe that there are certain personal characteristics that can help to determine if you are responsible enough to have a credit card or if you should hold off on getting one.

1. Excessive spender-are you an excessive spender? Do you have a problem with spending too much money? If so, than you should hold off on getting a credit card. Credit cards are great to have for an emergency or the occasional purchase, but not all of the time and for everyday use; unless you can keep up with the bills.
2. Previous Credit cards-Do you have several other credit cards that you have fallen behind on and/or are over limit on? If this is you, than maybe you should also hold off on getting a credit card unless you cut some of the others or pay some off.
3. Consistently late on payments-Are you ALWAYS late on payments on your bills or other purchases? This is another sign that maybe you should not have a credit cards just yet.

There are several credit cards out there specifically for those that have bad credit or no credit at all, but even if you are one of those people, think before you get a credit card. You do not want to get yourself in even more debt. Try and pay other things off first.

Above I have listed three personal characteristics that are great in helping to determine if you are ready for a credit card or not. If you fall under one or two of these characteristics, make sure you think twice before signing on the dotted line, otherwise; sign away, just don’t over do it on the spending and make sure you keep up with your purchases.

Going Green without Spending Green

We have this mistaken idea that to go green, we have to spend green dollars. Well, actually, you do not need to strain your budget just to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle. In fact, you will be fattening up your wallets with these tips on going green without spending your green dollars. And trust us, these ways are easy, effective and convenient.

Reduce Food Waste

Your grocery bill may constitute more than 50 percent of your total household bills. Thus, any and all efforts to reduce food waste will add up to big benefits to your pockets and to the environment for many reasons. You can achieve this end by:

* Reducing your food consumption in terms of shopping for groceries.
* Using leftovers for new dishes and enforcing a no-dregs policy
* Planning meals in advance to avoid too many leftovers

Use Heaters Wisely

We are so dependent on hot water for many of our needs from washing our bodies to washing our dishes and clothes. Well, go green by choosing cold water for many activities in the house. Start by taking cold showers when the weather permits instead of hot tub baths. Then progress into using unheated tap water for washing your hands, dishes and clothes. Studies have shown that tap water is just as effective in killing germs as hot water. The trick is in washing your hands properly for 20 seconds, soaking the clothes for 30 minutes to remove stubborn dirt and washing off the dregs on the eating utensils before placing on a full dishwasher.

Unplug the Appliances

You can save as much as 10-15 percent of your electricity bill simply by unplugging the cords from their sockets when these are not in use. This is because so-called phantom electricity does not flow from the grid into your appliances. And speaking of appliances, you can save money by either buying ones with the Energy Star logo or ones that have been refurbished. Of course, make sure that the refurbished appliances are also energy-efficient. You ought to save money in the long run instead of sticking to your run-down appliances. However, do recycle said old appliances with the manufacturers or with the recycling centers.

Use Recycled Materials for Your Home

As much as possible, use recycled materials for your home. You can purchase scrap lumber from hardware stores, vintage wood and glass panels from garage sales and old houses, utensils and ornaments made of recycled materials from green stores and sites, to name a few options. You will often spend less on these items and yet get as much mileage as you possibly can from them. Better yet, you should adopt the motto of environmentalists everywhere - reduce, reuse and recycle. You will soon find that indeed being eco-friendly has its rewards for you and for your children's children.

Starting today, take a look around your home and see what else needs to be done to be as environmentally-friendly as possible.

Read about ways to start going green in the kitchen and more about the different ways to recycle.

Defining A Better Fit For Your Data Center Outsourcing Needs

The key to a successful outsourcing relationship is identifying a partner who can provide cost-effective solutions with the relevant resources and the ability to adjust services as business changes over time. Outsourcing decisions should be made by examining whether an organization is effective and efficient in providing a function that is strategic to the business. IT operations and support organizations are often viewed as an overhead that provides a commodity function that can be easily and safely outsourced. However, IT operations and support functions may be core capabilities because flexible, stable and reliable operations are the foundation for enterprise applications and business processes. IT operations outsourcing proposals are often evaluated and executed with inadequate information about services and costs. The result may be an agreement that does not define the full set of services required, does not result in expected cost savings, and requires retaining a significant number of internal staff to close service gaps and monitor the outsourcer. Good business decisions are based on understanding services and costs, the impact of change, and the risk associated with IT services that do not meet business requirements.

What Should Be Outsourced?
Data center outsourcing services are one of the most mature IT service categories available in the market. In a mature market, one should expect external service providers (ESPs’) to understand market dynamics — as well as client’s wants and needs — and invest in making their services better, faster and less expensive. No “one size fits all” exists for outsourcing. The build-or-buy decision will be based on different criteria for different organizations.

Sourcing decisions may also be influenced to a great extent by factors such as politics and culture and economic stability. Therefore a long-term decision — typically, five to 10 years requires an ability to align IT with business goals, identify gaps in IT capabilities, understand the capabilities available in the market and determine how in-house and supplier responsibilities can best be shared.

Basic Online Business Techniques

When someone starts an online business, and many do, they tend to think that they know what they are doing. In other words, they don't have a clue. Everyone keep telling them that they need a nice looking website, throw some affiliate programs on it, advertise at free classifieds pages, and watch the money roll in. Easy money, right? That's what they think.

"I don't need anyone to show me how to do this. It shouldn't be hard at all. Actually, it should be a walk in the park." Many people probably think like that. So they advertise here and there. Free classifieds. Free advertising. Maybe some forum posting every day. Free traffic, right?

A few days go by. Then a few weeks go by and they only made about $30 in sales in one month. Many continue to do this and think that if they keep doing the same thing, maybe a miracle will happen.

Not so......

It so very true that the online work at home arena is highly competitive. If you are doing the same thing and keep getting the same results over and over again, not only are you killing your potential for online success, but you are allowing other competitors to pass you by. The only thing that you need to do is to stop and find someone who is already succeeding with their online business. Become like an investigator. Investigate what they do EXACTLY on a daily basis that created that wealth for them.

Here are a few good pointers on what you can do to succeed online:

1) Start Getting Educated......

Again, find someone who is very successful online and see what they are doing on a daily basis that creates their success. Do some detailed research online as to what methods and techniques are working for them and others. You can not succeed if you keep associating yourself with people who aren't successful online. So you need to take yourself by the hands and start to associate with successful online friends.

2) You need an Auto-responder.....

Before I go into explaining this subject, it is important that you know that you will want to work with an opt in email subscribers who will come to your site and give you their personal permission to send them periodic emails. What you will not want to do is to buy email subscribers. If you do buy them and send them your emails, then this can kill you and your online reputation.

Having and opt-in email list will allow you to free up lots of your time because your prospects will be receiving messages from you periodically and automatically. The nice thing about email marketing is that instead of you having to call them each time you want to promote something, which will take you forever, your auto-responder system will be working for you while you go out and have fun.

Imagine having an opt in list of 10,000 subscribers. If you were to call each one of them to promote one of your programs, think how long it will take you to reach all of them. It would be impossible for you. With email, you can contact them all in a matter of a few seconds or minutes. You write one email and hit the "submit" button, and you are all done.

"If I don't get an auto-responder and email subscribers, will this cut my chances of succeeding online?"

I am not saying that it will, but if you do get one, your income will just keep growing all the time as your subscribers do.
3) Find a mentor

After you find someone who is very successful online, email them and tell them that you will want to work with them one on one if it is possible. Don't try going into their training thinking that you know it all. Listen and follow each guideline that they are recommending to you.

This person will be your mentor. Your coach and most of all, your friend.

By stepping out and trying a proven way to make money online, you will begin to see that you too can make a nice income online. And the best advice that I can also give you is to never ever give up. A lot of people are making nice incomes online and so can you. Believe in yourself and you will succeed.

iTunes to Sign Artists Directly and Go Around Music Execs

Over Christmas there was some intense negotiations between the various record companies and Apple over the removal of Digital Rights Management and Variable Pricing for music. The primary issue was that Apple wanted to get music distribution onto the iPhone because they felt that impulse buying on the iPhone was an important component to growth. They had offered variable pricing in return for these terms but over Christmas Sony was the only hold out, which resulted in Steve Jobs intervening.

In interviews, several high-level music executives, who spoke on the condition that they not be named to avoid angering Apple, said they operated in fear of Apple's removing a label's products from the iTunes store over a disagreement, even though that has never happened. The labels do not have much leverage in negotiating with Apple.

Overall the music industry fears the growing power of iTunes and Apple particularly the front page:

One chit the company holds is the power of the iTunes home page, where it promotes music........."Whether the industry likes it or not, the iTunes chart showing the most popular songs in America is a major influencer of how kids today discover and communicate with their friends what kind of music they like," said Charlie Walk, the former president of Epic Records, a unit of Sony Music. "It's a very powerful thing right now in American pop culture and immediately validates a hit song."

What music industry executives are worried about is the growing power of the front page (and recommendation engine) of iTunes and the ability of iTunes to influence consumers. Couple that with a retailer that has enormous market power in the only growing sector of their market and you have a potential perfect storm for the executives of the music industry.

In the past the system worked on the concept of finite shelf space and fragmented music retailers. The music distribution companies were the distribution choke point and they decided what ends up on the front shelf at your music store and they got to kick around the music retailers. They were the ones that controlled what consumers got to hear on the radio, and they were the ones that decided how to price and promote an artist. (We all remember where we transitioned from Albums and Tapes to CDs). We could not understand why it was more expensive when the cost of manufacturing was lower. The transition of technology had traditionally always been good for the music executives, but this time the rules changed because they knocked straight into the network effect, the effect that creates natural monopolies because of their accumulate effects that benefit customers.

But today market power is shifting back to one large online retailer who continues to grow in substance and power each day. However what the music executives lose sleep over and could threaten their Gulfstream G650s is the ability for Apple to get into the music distribution game and sign artists directly.

Those with market power already, for example Madonna, already control all of the rights to their music. It would not be fantasy to suggest that the next album that Madonna releases will be an iTunes only album. What this means to the artist is a far greater share of the revenue stream as well as more control over how it is marketed. This is not that far away. After all the objective is to get their share of iPod hard disk space.

However the one thing that really kills them(music execs) is the potential that Apple will have the ability (soon) to market new artists. Currently how the system works is much like American Idol. Hundreds of talentless and semi talented people get in front of a small group of "experts" who decide who gets to make an album and who gets shown the door. Even before the walk through the door for the first time, they have to submit to an oneous contract and are stripped of all rights to their own talent. (That is not to stay this is how it happens in the normal course of recording companies because there is usually lawyers on both sides involved, but that controlling a really talented person like Kelly Clarkson is indeed mining gold). However the market power of the record companies is controlling the distribution and access to that distribution. Currently if you are seriously talented you must deal with these people in order to participate in the channel. It is important for them to make sure that the artists know you cannot participate in this market without them. What they don't need is the front page (and recommendation engine) of iTunes to create an alternative outlet where a talented artist can work the process and create exposure independently of the labels.

With the front page (and recommendation engine) of iTunes you potentially have the potential to create the next Pop Idol through simple exposure.

This is not to say that music industry system as we know it today will disappear anytime soon. This is because there is a hugh system in place already to vet and process artists employing millions of people as we speak. The hard work behind the scenes still has to be done. Writing songs, the studio work, production and marketing as well as road time. A potential deal on iTunes does not preclude the hard work building the infrastructure behind your career as many people that you have never heard of already have done. What it means is that it is feasible for an artist to be a major success without having to deal with the major labels and that is what keeps music execs quaking in their G650s. Those cliche scenes where the young band working out of a garage gets the call from a record producer from Atlantic or Sony, will be replaced with the call from Apple one day.

Article Writing - The New SEO Master Tool - Part II

Article writing is now a major weapon in search engine optimisation. If you have read Part I of this article you will see why previous linking strategies are failing miserably. As the major search engine, Google now expects links in order to increase your site ranking to be:

1 Relevant
2 Varying Anchor Text
3 One Way Links

These rules display that more of a natural linking strategy need to be evolved.

Writing expert articles about the content of your website helps to achieve the three objectives above.

First of all, you are able to place links within the resource box of your article pointing back to your website. Some article directories even allow you to place links within the article body itself. Therefore any link text that points back to your website is highly relevant to the article content itself, and your sire.

It is possible to vary the anchor text from article to article while still keeping it keyword orientated and most importantly, relevant.

By submitting your article to article submission sites, you are not committed to place a reciprocal link back to the article site on your website. This ensures that the link to your website is one way.

By writing many quality articles, you will start to be recognised as an expert in your field.

You can see how writing articles about the subject of your website can be a master SEO tool. However, things get even better.

Ezine authors and webmasters also regularly scour these sites for fresh content for their ezines and websites. Your article is free to be distributed and republished as long as it remains intact, with the resource box and all links live.

What this means is that each article can potentially create hundreds or thousands of backlinks to your website, each of them relevant, varying in anchor text and one way. Not bad for about 30 minutes work. So the advice is simple - get writing, or if you feel unable to write your own articles, get someone to write them for you!

Debt Reduction Strategies

There are many ways to reduce debts and some of the options by which you can reduce debts are

1. Deceasing the expenditure
2. increasing the revenue streams
3. paying back the debts which are overdue instantly
4. making use of a debt settlement agency

It's important that you budget the expenses corresponding with your income or revenue. If you spend more than you earn, then you need to take debts to cover up your expenses. F you earn more than you spend, then you have savings. It's very difficult to increase revenue or income, therefore to reduce debts you must reduce your expenditure also. Budget for the necessary and the emergency expenditure that you may have. Prioritize the list of expenditure. If something can be delayed till the next month, then do so. in this way, you wouldn't need to take short-term loans such as payday loans to cover the shortfall.

It's difficult to increase the revenue streams but it can be done. This can mean that you take up a night job in addition to the day job or switch over to another job that pays well. Or somebody in the family may have to take up an additional job. In this way you can quickly repay your debts and thus reduce the loans.

Pay back overdue debts immediately. Don't be laid back on paying back the debts such as mortgage loan charges, car loans charges etc., as they might take away the financial asset and you might also lose the collateral. Therefore you lose on both counts.

Debt settlement agencies help to reduce the debt amount. They can reduce the loan amounts, the interest charges as well as debt / loan tenures. Thereby there is a less outgo of your financial assets. They can reduce the debt amount to 75%, however this is dependent on an individual case basis.

30 Seconds to Easy Self Hypnosis

There are many ways in which to induce a tranquil, relaxed state of mind, in which the body is still, and the conscious mind is simply placed aside for a while as the subconscious mind assumes a more dominant role, and allows the therapeutic cognitive processes which are innate in all of us to become active.

This state of mind, known as the hypnotic state is very simply created by;
- Focusing one’s attention.
- Relaxing the body.
- Allowing unnecessary thoughts to enter, then exit, without any rationalisation.

This process can be easily accomplished by the technique that follows. It is known as the “Eye Roll Technique’, and is a very old but powerful way of entering a safe therapeutic hypnotic trance. When in this relaxed state of mind, it is possible to offer oneself any positive suggestions or affirmations in order to bring about the changes which you desire. Examples of positive statements and affirmations are given further on.

THE TECHNIQUE.
If possible, find yourself a quiet place and either sit down or lie down comfortably.
Roll up your eyes, just as if you were trying to look at your eyebrows.
Allow your eyelids to slowly close, and as you do so, take in a deep breath and hold it.

As you slowly exhale, allow your upturned eyes to return to their normal position.

As you finish exhaling, enjoy that gentle, floating sensation that you will experience.
At the same time, imagine your right hand to be very light, like it has a childs helium balloon tied to it making it rise gently. You may be surprised at the ease by which your hand and arm seem to float up by themselves.
This floating hand signal is a signal from your subconscious mind that you are entering a state of deep relaxation.

As you remain in this deeply relaxed, hypnotic state of mind, offer yourself any positive, therapeutic suggestions which you feel will help to bring about the changes you really want or need.
Remain in this state for 10-20 minutes, that’s really all that’s needed.

You can repeat the process as many times a day as you like.

EXITING THE TRANCE STATE.
Roll up your eyes behind your closed eyelids.
Very slowly, allow your eyelids to open, and the eyes to focus.
Make a tight fist with your right hand, and as you do, allow this light floating hand to drift down into a comfortable position. As it comes to rest, release the tight fist and gently stretch those fingers.……FINISHED !!!!

If necessary, the exit from the trance state can be accomplished any time by going through the steps listed above.

It may take you a little time to perfect the technique, especially if you are the ‘on the go all the time’ sort of person. Relaxation comes easier to some people than to others, so always bear this in mind.

Remember, if you want to make positive changes in your life, this relatively short use of your time can pay great dividends in the end. The beauty of it is that once you have practiced and mastered the technique, you will be able to enter the relaxed state much more easily and deeply.

Another point to remember is that everyone is capable of entering into a hypnotic state.
But just as we are all different, so is the ease with which we enter into a hypnotic trance.
Some will succeed on their first or second attempt, where as others may need many more attempts. It took me a week and a half, and about 15 attempts before I achieved a hypnotic state. The motto is—PERSERVERE. It may take time, but the rewards are well worth the effort.

KitchenAid, A name you can trust in kitchen appliances

In my younger days, I must admit that the thought of paying several hundred dollars for a kitchen appliance like a KitchAid stand Mixer was not only not in my budget but also something not to mention I couldn't justify the expense. It's been a few years now and several mixers later when I realized that quality matters.

Like many people just starting out, I was interested only in 1 thing and that was price. How could I mix up my occasional birthday cake without costing my anything. I could mix by hand but as anyone who has ever known 20 something, there's a limit to the amount of actual effort we want to do before we justify going out and buying something. So during the first few years of independent life, the 25 dollar hand or portable mixers were my preferred kitchen mixing appliance.

Over the years I realized that buying the cheaper, or as the marketing people say "less expensive" portable type mixers, I decided to quit buying on price and start choosing consumer goods based on quality and a good value.

Now "good value" may mean a lot of things to different people but to me it means paying a fair price for a solid product that will last. You might ask why wouldn't I just buy on quality alone? The answer is in the automobile the Rolls Royce. The Rolls is arguably one of the highest quality built automobiles in the world. It is not however what I would consider a good value due to the extraordinarily high price.

It's not the same however with a lot of consumer goods like my KitchenAid mixer. Although far from what some would call cheap, it should definitely be considered a great value. The hand mixer was just tiring to use and underpowered so when shopping for my new mixer I knew I wanted a stand mixer. That's one where I wouldn't need to hold the mixer in the bowl while it worked. It needed a folding or very slow speed so I could blend in ingredients without them flying all over the kitchen. I also wanted a mixer with enough power that I could do 4 boxes of brownies without it slowing down. Heck, I even would like it to be able to knead bread and pasta dough for those special meals.

Although there are many styles and models, I decided on an Artisan Series KitchAid stand Mixer in a color that would match my kitchen. It met my needs as to quality and even included a dough hook. They wouldn't include a dough hook if the machine didn't have the power to knead dough, right? It's necessary to shop carefully however as I found the unit price range several hundred dollars between the highest and lowest in my city literally .

So I did my shopping online and checked out several of the most popular kitchen appliance outlet stores. I picked up the mixer I wanted and it included several handy accessories including the dough hook priced at below the lowest price I could get it locally! To make things even better, buying at the online store also offered free shipping. Now that's value!

I received my stand mixer in perfect condition at a price one third less than what I could have bought it for anywhere in town. It has speeds from a slow stir to a fast mix. My new Artisan Series KitchAid Mixer is a joy to own and does everything...including mixing the bread dough.
